{day 7} in a small city

I'm really excited to share today's little gem with you all!
Its a favorite at our house !

The West Virginia Culture Center Museum
Totally free!
Extremely fun!
When Little E has a choice of what to do, she almost always picks going to the museum.
The best part for us is that it is within walking distance from our house, so she gets to go there frequently.

They recently (as in less than 5 years ago) did a huge overhaul on the museum.
It takes you through the history of West Virginia and incorporates all kinds of fun things that kids (younger and older) will enjoy.
The path through the museum changes as you go through different time periods. So it starts off as basically a dirt path and eventually makes its way to looking like a modern day highway.

E's favorite room is the "old telephones". Basically an old operator desk with all kinds of buttons to push and pull. I personally like the soda fountain (it came from one that actually used to be a functioning one in Charleston).

The last time Hubs took E, they had a little scavenger hunt. The museum staff provided paper and a pencil. On the paper was a pictorial list of items found in the museum and the task was to check off as many of those items as you could.

There's also a gift shop where you can purchase items made in West Virginia. E typically comes home with one of those huge lollipops when she goes with Hubs. :)

Its a great way to spend an afternoon...learning and having a blast while doing it!

Did you know this is {day 7} in a 31 day series?!?
I'm linking up with The Nester and others in the Write31Days challenge!
Go check out the other blogs and check back here tomorrow for another "day in a small city"
